In 2023, Michigan cannabis sales generated more than $456.7 million in tax revenue. The revenue generated from the cannabis taxes will go towards local governments, schools, roads, public health and more. Additionally, 120 new retail establishments opened last year, bringing the total amount in the state to about 750.
The total sales of medical and recreational cannabis last year equates to $385 worth of cannabis for each adult in the state.
