Marijuana could be rescheduled by feds. What it means for Michigan

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agreed earlier this week to reschedule Cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). Rescheduling cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III will likely have impacts on Michigan’s cannabis industry. 

The possible short-term impacts of the policy change include easier banking and financing within the industry, elimination of hiring prohibitions for cannabis users, cannabis research becoming more affordable and accessible, and provide new tax breaks to cannabis companies, which in turn could translate to lower prices for consumers.
