Round Up to Fight the Cannabis Tax
MiCIA is proud to partner with Dutchie through the Round Up the Change initiative. Launched
in early 2026, Round Up the Change is a new checkout feature that allows dispensary customers
to round up their purchase total to support nonprofit organizations and associations advancing
cannabis policy, legalization and reform.
Rounding up supports the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association’s Constitutional Defense
Fund, backing legal efforts to stop Michigan’s 24% wholesale tax. These contributions help
protect jobs, promote market stability, and support a fair and sustainable cannabis industry.
“Voter initiatives are protected by our constitution for a reason; they are the voice of the people,
and they are superior to laws passed by politicians,” MiCIA Executive Director Robin Schneider
said. “We will continue the fight to defend the will of the voters and the entirety of the ballot
initiative process, no matter what it takes.”

The round up feature on the Dutchie POS does not cost you anything and can be enabled
on your POS with just a few clicks.
Optional for customers
Your customers are not obligated to make a donation and can easily opt-out of rounding
up their totals.

How to Enable Dutchie Round-Up
Retailers can enable Round Up the Change through Dutchie in three simple steps.
1. Go to the SETTINGS section of your Dutchie Backoffice and navigate to the FEES &
DONATIONS page.
2. Select MICHIGAN CANNABIS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION from the drop-down
list.
3. Hit save.
